i2Cool Selected for KPMG China’s Second Smart Manufacturing Technology 50

2026.01.30

i2Cool has recently been selected for KPMG China’s Second “Smart Manufacturing Technology 50”, in recognition of its proprietary core technologies, strong deployment capabilities, and long-term sustainability impact. The selection positions i2Cool as one of the technology companies shaping the future direction of smart manufacturing innovation.

Following a series of international awards and project recognitions, this milestone once again reflects the high-level endorsement of i2Cool by a leading global professional services organization.

Focus on Five Key Technology Tracks

A Comprehensive Evaluation of Innovation and Industrial Deployment

The Smart Manufacturing Technology 50 (SMT 50) is an annual flagship program launched by KPMG China, aiming to identify and empower high-growth technology companies with breakthrough innovations, strong industrial implementation capabilities, and long-term sustainable development potential.

The program focuses on five major technology domains: advanced manufacturing equipment, industrial software, automation and robotics, industrial internet, and new materials. Candidates are evaluated across multiple dimensions, including technological innovation, commercialization capability, market potential, and low-carbon value. Among nearly one thousand applicants nationwide, only 50 companies were ultimately selected.

Electricity-Free Cooling as a Breakthrough in New Materials

Pioneering a New Green Pathway for Cooling

Originating from scientific research at City University of Hong Kong, i2Cool is a hard-technology enterprise dedicated to the independent development and industrialization of electricity-free cooling technologies.

By leveraging high-solar-reflective and high-thermal-emissive material systems, i2Cool has established a cooling pathway that does not rely on electricity, does not increase energy consumption, and does not generate additional emissions. This approach has evolved into a portfolio of green manufacturing solutions spanning coatings, films, ceramics, and textiles, enabling passive cooling across diverse material forms.

Global Deployment at Scale

Multi-Scenario Applications Driving Energy Savings and Carbon Reduction

i2Cool’s electricity-free cooling solutions have been widely applied across building façades, urban public spaces, infrastructure, and wearable products, with projects deployed in more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.

To date, the company has achieved a cumulative coated area of approximately 850,000 square meters, delivering carbon reductions exceeding 14 million kilograms of CO₂, effectively supporting urban energy efficiency, heat mitigation, and low-carbon governance.

As a passive cooling solution centered on new-material innovation, electricity-free cooling requires no external energy input, refrigerants, or compressor-based systems. It represents an emerging direction at the intersection of smart manufacturing and ecological sustainability and is now entering a phase of industrial-scale adoption.

In KPMG’s 2025 industry research report, Industry Insights on the Development of Electricity-Free Passive Radiative Cooling, i2Cool was featured in a dedicated section as a representative enterprise. The report notes that:

“i2Cool demonstrates strengths in core material research and development, system integration capabilities, and multi-scenario deployment, making it one of the representative companies in the electricity-free passive radiative cooling sector.”

Looking ahead, as new urban concepts such as zero-carbon industrial parks and climate-adaptive buildings continue to advance, electricity-free passive radiative cooling is increasingly demonstrating its unique advantages in high-temperature and power-constrained environments, enabled by its characteristics of zero energy consumption, zero carbon emissions, structural simplicity, and strong adaptability. Against this backdrop, electricity-free cooling is expected to become one of the foundational technologies supporting sustainability and technological autonomy in next-generation industrial systems, providing long-term momentum for the global green manufacturing ecosystem.

Long-Termism Driving Manufacturing Transformation

Building the Future of Green Smart Manufacturing Together

i2Cool’s inclusion in KPMG’s Smart Manufacturing Technology 50 represents not only a milestone recognition of its technological pathway and manufacturing capabilities, but also a broader industry consensus on the long-term value of green and low-carbon manufacturing. Looking forward, i2Cool will continue to place materials science at the core of its innovation strategy, advancing the integration of smart manufacturing and sustainable development at greater scale.

The company extends its sincere appreciation to KPMG China for the professional recognition, as well as to its partners who have continuously supported i2Cool’s growth.

Moving ahead, i2Cool will remain committed to the advancement of electricity-free cooling technologies, working alongside industries and cities worldwide to jointly shape a more efficient, low-carbon, and sustainable future for smart manufacturing.
